On Monday, the Department of German & Russian bid farewell to Nancy Bikowski, who will retire at the end of December after six years of service as our Department Coordinator, and twenty-six years total at Notre Dame. Before joining our unit, where she handled scheduling and registration matters, and also assisted the Chair and our Directors of Undergraduate Studies, Nancy worked in the University’s Hesburgh Program. She is beloved by students and visiting scholars alike as the welcoming face of the Department, and numerous former Max-Kade-Professors sent video tributes to see her off. Nancy’s successor, Derek Williams, will take up his job next week, and we all look forward to working with him!
