The Notre Dame Chorale Will Sing Music in Nine Foreign Languages

The Notre Dame Chorale will perform a concert of music written in nine different foreign languages at 7:30 pm, February 14, 2024, in the LaBar Performance Hall on the ground floor of O'Neill Hall of Music and Sacred Music at the south end of the football stadium. Enter by the doors to the west of the stadium's Leahy Gate. The program includes Irish folk songs (sung in Irish), arrangements of lieder by Schubert and Schumann (sung in German), an arrangement of a French chanson by Debussy (French), an arrangement of Liszt's setting of a Petrarch sonnet (Italian), an anonymous villancico from the fifteenth century (Spanish), a dramatic setting of Christ's words on the cross by Hungarian composer Deák-Bárdos (Aramaic), and works by Monteverdi (Latin), Tchaikovsky (Russian), and Mussorgsky (Old Church Slavonic).

The Chorale will be accompanied by pianist Päivi Ekroth.
