Democracy Film

This documentary grants unprecedented access to the negotiations over the General Data Protection Regulation, a highly controversial issue. The film follows Jan Philipp Albrecht, the German Green Party politician tasked with steering the process. We see him talking with lobbyists and civil rights activists, participating in think tanks, and talking with colleagues in the corridors of power. DEMOCRACY sheds needed light on the complex power structures that govern Europe, to offer a snapshot of democracy at work today.

"As nationalism sweeps Europe, a subtle cinematic triumph about an unlikely subject animates the hopes of transnational democracy." - The Guardian

"This documentary is almost as extraordinary an achievement as the passage of the General Data Protection Regulation: it makes data protection law and legislative compromise engrossing. Who knew that was even possible?" - ZD Net
