Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE)
Through the Deutscher Akademisher Austausch Dienst (DAAD). This program provides summer internships for juniors and graduating seniors who will be enrolled in a grad program in following fall. It is open to students in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering.Students work with doctoral students in research groups at top German institutions. No previous knowledge of German necessary, but helpful in everyday life. Terms of award. €615/mo. for 6 weeks to 3 months between June and August.

Internships at GACCoM
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest in Chicago offers university students and recent graduates internships in a range of fields (Consulting Services, Membership & Events, PR & Communications, Accounting and our Christkindlmarket) that are excellent opportunities for students to gain practical work experience in a truly bilingual and bicultural environment. Interns receive a monthly stipend and that the minimum duration is six months. Rolling start dates.

Internship Program in Germany
Through CDS International. This program provides practical training opportunities in Germany for American students and recent graduates and non-U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university. Paid placements are available in business, finance, technical, and engineering fields for usually 6 (enrolled students) to 12 months (extension possible up to a total of 18 months for graduates). Programs start individually at the beginning of each month.

EMGIP (Emigre Memorial German Internship Program) - Bundestag Internship
Through the Deutscher Akademisher Austausch Dienst (DAAD). This is a 2-month internship opportunity for advanced undergrads with some knowledge of the German legislative process who are comfortable communicating in spoken and written German. Terms of the award: Approximately €1,100 per month from the German Bundestag. This can be combined with the Nanovic Institute's Internship Support.

EMGIP (Emigre Memorial German Internship Program) - Landtag Internship
Sponsored by CDS International. The program is similar to the above, but students are placed in the German State Parliaments. There is a program administration fee of $300. Terms of award: €500/month to help offset expenses.

The German-American Internship Program was founded by the Steuben-Schurz-Gesellschaft e.V. and the U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt. Employers strengthen the transatlantic program and intercultural understanding by providing study-related internships to German and US students. Established in 1999 - as the only non-profit initiative of its kind - participating students as well as companies providing this unique opportunity profit profoundly from on the job experience and the building of international leadership skills. Nothing may change a life's path like early experience. Our program, furthermore, assist the development of future global leaders by encouraging the students to do an internship (8 weeks to 6 months) with a American or German host employer, resp. Special attention is given to matching the individual qualifications of the participants with the expectations and demands of the employer. This can be combined with the Nanovic Institute's Internship Support.
